Safety & Proper Use

SplashRider is a powered recreational water device. Please read this page before your first ride. Riding involves risk, and you are responsible for using the product safely and within your ability.

Before every ride

  • Wear a properly fitted, activity-appropriate life vest. Every ride, every time, regardless of how well you swim.
  • You must know how to swim. SplashRider is not a flotation aid and is not a life-saving device.
  • Never ride alone. Have someone with you on shore or on the water.
  • Check that both platforms are properly inflated, both foot straps are secure, and the batteries are seated and charged.
  • Check that the remote is paired and the wrist strap is on your wrist.

Where to ride

  • Designed for calm lakes, protected coves and flat water.
  • Not for rough seas, strong currents, fast-moving rivers, surf, or anywhere with boat traffic.
  • Ride in water at least 2 feet (about 60 cm) deep and away from docks, rocks, moorings and swimmers.
  • Do not ride in poor visibility, after dark, or in bad weather including wind, storms or lightning.
  • Check and follow the local rules for powered watercraft where you ride. Requirements vary by state, country and body of water.

Who should not ride

  • Riders under 18 must be directly supervised by an adult.
  • Do not ride under the influence of alcohol, drugs or medication that affects balance, coordination or judgement.
  • If you are pregnant, or have a heart condition, back or joint problems, epilepsy, or any condition affected by physical exertion or falls, talk to your doctor before riding.

While riding

  • Start in the lowest speed mode until you are confident with your balance.
  • Keep hands, hair, loose clothing and straps away from the motor intakes.
  • Release the throttle to stop. The motors also stop if the remote loses signal.
  • Do not film, use a phone, or carry objects while riding. Keep both hands free.
  • Do not carry passengers or exceed the stated rider weight limit.

Battery safety

  • Charge only with the charger supplied, indoors, on a hard non-flammable surface, and never unattended.
  • Never charge a wet battery or a wet charging port. Dry both fully first.
  • Do not puncture, crush, disassemble, submerge for storage, or expose batteries to fire or high heat.
  • If a battery is swollen, damaged, leaking or smells unusual, stop using it immediately and contact us.
  • Lithium-ion batteries are restricted on aircraft. Check the rules with your airline before travelling — we make no claim that this product is approved for air travel.

After every ride

  • Rinse both platforms, motor modules and the remote with fresh water, especially after salt water.
  • Dry everything fully before storage. Store out of direct sunlight in a dry place.
  • Check the motor intakes for weed, sand and debris and clear them gently.

If anything about your unit does not look or sound right, stop using it and email info@splashrider.store before your next ride.
